Description

Tamiya 1:12 Ducati 888 Superbike Racer (LW)

The Ducati 888 is an Italian sports motorcycle that was first presented to the public in 1991. Its serial production started in the same year and lasted only two years - until 1993. The 888 model was developed and put into production in order to strengthen the company's position in the sports motorcycle segment, as well as a development of the 851 model and its successor. Compared to its predecessor, the Ducati 888 differs primarily by the increased engine displacement, which has increased from 851 to 888 cm3. This translated into a slightly higher power generated by the drive unit, but also into its better work culture. On the other hand, many other elements, such as electronically controlled fuel injection, engine cooling with liquid or motorcycle styling remained virtually unchanged. The Ducati 888 was able to accelerate to 245 km / h. The motorcycle turned out to be a very successful design, and Doug Polen, who rode it twice, in 1991 and 1992 won the Motorcycle World Championship on it.
