Stridsvagn 122[w skrócie: Strv 122, inna oznaczenie Leopard 2 (S)] is a modern 3rd generation Swedish Main Battle Tank. Serial production lasted from 1994 to 2001 and led to the creation of 120 tanks of this type. The Strv 122 is single driven MTU MB 873 Ka-501 engine with 1500 hp. The vehicle is armed with a single 120mm L / 44 smoothbore cannon and two 7.62mm MG3A1 machine guns.

The Stridsvagn 122 is in fact a much modernized Leopard 2A5 tank for the needs of the Swedish army. The main modifications concerned the use of a much more powerful laminated Chobham armor, providing the vehicle with a much better ballistic cover, as well as the installation of a completely new Celsius fire control system (FCS), an extensive system of weapons of mass destruction and extensive communication systems on the battlefield. The Stridsvagn 122 can also cover water bodies up to 1.4 meters deep without any special preparation. It is worth noting that in 2016 the Swedish army ordered from Krauss-Maffei a further modernization of its Strv 122, which will consist, on the one hand, in a routine technical inspection, but also in the installation of the most modern communication systems and battlefield management.
