Description

LWS (short for German Landwasserschlepper) is a German tracked amphibian from World War II. Design work on it began in 1935, but it was not until 1940 that the first copies were ready. The producer was the Rheinmetall-Borsig concern. Initially, the structure was to be used during the 1940 landing in England, but when it did not happen, the LWS was used primarily for transport on the great Russian rivers. The drive was provided by a Maybach HL-120 engine with a capacity of 300HP. The vehicle was produced in small numbers and after 1940 it was definitely regarded as a minor project. In 1944 it entered the service of the LWS II, constructed on the basis of the Pz.Kpfw IV tank. Specifications: length: 8.6m, width: 3.16m, height: 3.13m, weight 13t, engine power: 300KM, speed: on the road - 35 km / h, in the water - 12 km / h, armament: no.
