Achzarit is a modern Israeli heavy tracked APC. The vehicle is powered by a single diesel engine with a power of 650 or 850 hp . Production of cars of this type started in 1988. Standard The Achzarit is armed with three 7.62 mm machine guns.

Vehicle Achzarit was created as a result of modification of captured Soviet-made Arab tanks of the T-54 / T-55 family. The modification consisted in removing the turret of the tank and the main armament, modernizing the chassis and arranging a landing compartment in the middle and rear of the vehicle, which allows the transport of up to 7 soldiers with full equipment. Achzarit was also armored with reactive armor (ERA), especially at the front of the hull. In the course of serial production, two versions of the vehicle appeared, differing in the engine used: the Mk.1 with an engine power of 650 HP and the Mk.2 with an engine power of 850 HP. Armored personnel carriers Achzarit took part in activities, e.g. as part of activities related to the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000-2004 or during the Second Lebanon War in 2006.
