Description
Italeri 1:35 Panzerjäger I
The Panzerjager I was a German tank destroyer from the Second World War. The first prototypes of the vehicle were made at the turn of 1939 and 1940, and serial production continued in 1940-1941, ending with the production of about 200 vehicles. The Panzerjager I was powered by a single engine Maybach NL 38TR with 100 hp. It was armed with one 47mm PaK 36 (t) gun.
The Panzerjager I was created as a result of the Wehrmacht's search for use in the PzKpfw I tanks decommissioned after the September campaign in 1939. . This is how the Panzerjager I was created. Its serine production took place at the Alkett and Daimler-Benz plants. Its advantages included low production costs, good ballistic parameters of the gun and good maneuverability. The weakest armor turned out to be the biggest downside. The Panzerjager I was used in combat for the first time in the French campaign in 1940. In the years 1941-1942 he also served in North Africa. Units equipped with Panzerjager I also took part in the initial phase of the war with the Soviet Union, i.e. in the Barbarossa and Typhoon operations. After 1942, the vehicle was decommissioned.
