Description

Verlinden Productions 1/35 Soviet R-107 Field Radio Set AT-3 Sagger Missile Resin Set

Pre-owned resin kit.

The 9M14 Malyutka (NATO designation: AT-3 Sagger) is a Soviet guided anti-tank (anti-tank) missile from the Cold War period. The missile began to enter service with the Soviet Army in the early 1960s. It weighs 10.9 kilograms, is 86 centimeters long and has a diameter of 125 mm. The range of the shot varies from 500 to 3000 meters. The missile carries a HEAT warhead with a mass of 2.5 kg, which is able to penetrate an armor plate up to 400 mm thick.

The 9M14 Malyutka missile was developed primarily for the needs of the Soviet Army as the lightest anti-tank missile possible to complement such missiles as the 3M6 Bumblebee or 9M17 Falanga in the line. Unlike its predecessors, it was so small and light that it could be used as an anti-tank gun in infantry units. The missile very quickly became the basic weapon of this type in the motorized and mechanized infantry units of the Soviet Army. Suffice it to say that virtually every Soviet motorized infantry platoon had a section armed with Malyutek missiles. The missile was also widely exported to the Warsaw Pact and Third World countries. It is worth adding that it was used by the Egyptian and Syrian troops during the Yom-Kippur war in 1973 with electrifying effect. The 9M14 Malyutka missile was also mounted on various types of vehicles, such as the BMP-1, BRDM-2 or BRM-1.
