Description

The GAZ-AAA was a Soviet light truck from the interwar period and World War II. The vehicle had a total length of 5.34 meters and a width of 2.04 meters and a wheelbase of 3.2 meters (between the 1st and 3rd axle). It reached a maximum speed of 65 km / h. The car could carry a load of 2,000 kilograms. Initially, the drive was a 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 3.3 liters and a maximum power of 42 HP, synchronized with a 4-speed manual gearbox. The drive was transferred to the two rear axles. The GAZ-AAA was developed as a development of the GAZ-AA car, a license copy of the American Ford AA truck. The main change concerned the use of one more axle, which made the GAZ-AAA a three-axle truck. Serial production of the car started in 1934 and lasted until 1943. It is estimated that about 38,000 trucks of this type were built in the course of the project. In the period 1941-1945, in connection with the hostilities, a radically simplified and impoverished version was produced, with, for example, a canvas roof or a wooden driver's cabin door.
