Description

The Panzerselbstfahrlafette IVa Dicker Max was a German WWII prototype tank destroyer. Only two prototypes of the vehicle were built in 1941. The machine never entered mass production. Dicker Max was powered by a single motor Maybach HL 120 TRM with a power of 300 hp. The vehicle was armed with a single cannon K18 L / 52 cal. 105 mm and 1 MG34 machine gun cal. 7.92 mm.

The Dicker Max was created by the Krupp company in response to the Wehrmacht's demand at the end of 1939 for a new tank destroyer armed with a 105 or 128 mm cannon. When designing the Dicker Max car, the proven chassis of the Pz.Kpfw IV tank was used, which significantly accelerated the work and allowed for the creation of the first prototype at the beginning of 1941. With the start of Operation Barbarossa, both prototypes produced were assigned to the 3rd Panzer Division. In the course of this operation, vehicles of this type showed considerable effectiveness in fighting Soviet vehicles, including the T-34 and KW-1. Despite these successes, Dicker Max did not go into series production.
