Description

The Vollkettenaufklärer 38 (t) is a German prototype reconnaissance vehicle from the declining period of World War II. The drive was supposed to be provided by a single 6-cylinder Praga engine with a power of up to 158 HP. The length of the wagon would probably be about 6.4 meters, with a width of about 2.6 meters. It was assumed that the armament was to consist of either a 20mm Flak38 cannon or a short-barreled cannon K51 L / 24 cal. 75 mm. The Vollkettenaufklärer 38 (t) was developed as a development of the technical support vehicle Bergepanzer 38 (t), which in turn was a derivative of the Hetzer tank destroyer. The Vollkettenaufklärer 38 (t) featured an engine located in the rear part of the car and an open-top crew compartment. Inevitably, the front part of the car has also changed significantly. There are many indications that the new vehicle was to serve as a reconnaissance vehicle in independent tank destroyer battalions and - perhaps - in German armored divisions. Only a few prototypes of this car were built, and it never entered mass production.
