Description

Toyota 88 C is a Japanese racing car, which was first presented to the public in 1988 and was dedicated to starts in the season in 1988 and 1989. From the beginning it was assumed to start in the World Championship in the so-called category or group C, which was established in 1982. The 88 C was developed as the successor to the Toyota 87 C and its chief designer was Hiro Fujimori. It was created as an evolutionary development of its predecessor, using many of its elements and duplicating virtually all the main design assumptions. The drive of the 88 C model was a Toyota 3S-GTM 2.1-liter turbocharged engine, and the car was based on a self-supporting aluminum body. The Toyota 88 C took part in a total of 24 races, but did not win any of them. It was used extensively by Toyota to gain valuable racing experience, which was partially used in the 88C-V car.
