Description

The Obice da 100/17 gun is an Italian 100 mm towed howitzer from the period of both world wars and the interwar period. In the basic version (mod.14), the gun's own weight was 1,420 kilograms. The maximum range of the weapon reached about 8,000 m. The rate of fire of the weapon, with a well-trained crew, was up to 6 shots per minute.

The Obice da 100/17 gun is the Italian name for the Skoda 100 mm howitzer imported from Austria-Hungary at that time. The gun had a single-tailed bed and a wedge lock. It was characterized by a good rate of fire and the range of the shot for those times. The Obice da 100/17 cannon was one of the basic howitzers of the Italian army during the First World War. In the basic version, it was called Obice da 100/17 mod.14, while in the course of hostilities a modernized version was created (mod.16) which, among other things, had a different shield. The howitzer remained in the line until 1939 and also took part in World War II, being used by the Italian army until the ceasefire of 1943.
