Description

Italeri 4705 FIAT Abarth 695SS/Assetto Corsa

The Fiat 500 is an Italian city car that today would be classified as a segment A car, which originally entered the market in 1957, and its series production continued until 1975. It was concentrated mainly in plants in Turin, northern Italy. About 3.4 million cars of this type were produced in its course. In the chronologically earliest version, the Fiat 500 was 297 cm long, 132 cm wide and 132.4 cm high. Its wheelbase was 184 centimeters.

The 500 model was developed and put into series production as the successor of the Fiat Topolino, which went on sale before World War II. Design work began in 1955, and Dante Giacosa was responsible for them. They led to the creation of a vehicle completely different in style from the Topolino model. The dimensions of the car also changed, although it was still very small, as well as the engines used. Finally, a small, very economical city car was created, which quickly gained popularity in Italy. Sometimes it can be found that his role for the Italian automotive industry was similar to that of the VW Beetle for the German automotive industry. Its great popularity also led to the creation of the new Fiat 500, which debuted on the market in 2007. It is worth adding that in the course of serial production, the Fiat 500 was used as power units, 2-cylinder engines with a capacity of 479 to 594 cm3 and a power of 13.5 to 21 HP. In the offer of the Fiat group, the 500 model was replaced by the 126 model.
