Description
Fairey Gannet is a British on-board turbo-prop patrol aircraft designed for ZOP operations and early warning. The flight of the prototype took place in 1949 (with the Armstrong-Siddeley Mamba engine), and the first landing of Fairey Gannet on an aircraft carrier took place on June 19, 1950. The machine entered the line in 1953. Several versions of this aircraft were created, the most important of which are the following: AS.1 (ZOP operations, 183 examples were created), T.2 (training version, 38 examples), AEW.3 (early warning aircraft, 44 examples). In total, 351 serial machines were built. Firey Gannet aircraft also used three different propulsion units: ASMD.1, ASMD.2 and ASMD.4. with a power from 2950KM to 3875KM. The aircraft was exported to Australia, Germany and Indonesia. It was withdrawn from the British airline in 1978. Technical data: Maximum speed: 500 km / h, maximum ceiling 7,600 m, armament: fixed - the plane had no fixed armament, suspended - up to 908 kg of torpedoes or bombs.
