Pre-owned plastic model kit. Damaged, deformed box, parts in good condition.
The Boeing C 17 Globemaster III is a four-engine, heavy-duty, long-range transport jet aircraft in the American high-wing configuration. The drive is provided by four Pratt and Whitney F117-PW-100 turbofan engines. The flight of the prototype took place in 1991, and serial production started in 1991 and lasted until 2015. About 280 copies of this aircraft were produced.
The roots of the C 17 program go back to the 1960s, when the USAAF launched a program aimed at replacing C-130 aircraft with new machines with a much greater range and payload. However, as a result of frequent changes to the criteria of competitions, the work on C 17 lasted until the turn of the 1980s and 1990s! Ultimately, however, a machine was created with good flight characteristics, considerable lifting capacity and using a very modern avionics based on the fly-by-wire system. The machine was built in only two basic versions: C 17A and C 17A ER. The second version differed from the first with the increased capacity of the fuel tanks, which allowed to extend the maximum range by 1500 km! Boeing C 17 Globemaster III was exported to, among others: Australia, Canada and Great Britain. Machines of this type were used intensively during operations in Afghanistan (from 2001) and Iraq (2003).
