Description

Takom 1:35 British Air-Defense Weapen System Chieftain Marksman SPAAG

Chieftain SPAAG is a prototype, mobile anti-aircraft system on a tracked chassis from modern times. The length of the car's hull is approx. 7.5 m with a width of approx. 3.5 m. The drive would most likely be provided by a single 750hp engine. The main armament was two 35mm Oerlikon autocannons. The Chieftain SPAAG is based on the chassis and many mechanical components of the Chieftain Main Battle Tank. However, its main armament consists of elements of the AA defense system. named Marksman. This system was developed by Marconi Electronic Systems, and used the Marconi 400 series radar to detect targets, and the Oerlikon cannon to combat them. As for the overall concept, it is very similar to the West German Cheetah. The system was built into the turret, which in turn could be mounted on many MBT chassis - including the Chieftain car, for example. It is assumed that the Marksman system was highly effective and featured a very short time for entry into action, target detection and neutralization.
