Description

Trumpeter 1:35 Canadian AVGP Cougar (Improved Version)

The AVGP Cougar is a contemporary Canadian wheeled reconnaissance vehicle. The first prototypes of the vehicle were created in the 70s of the twentieth century, and in 1976 mass production started, which led to the creation of 195 copies of the vehicle. The AVGP Cougar is powered by a single engine Detroit Diesel 6V53T with a power of 279 hp. The vehicle is armed with a single 76mm L23A1 gun and one 7.62mm machine gun.

In the 1960s, the Canadian army needed to find a replacement for the M113 Lynx, which was used extensively in United Nations missions in which Canada participated. After many years of trials and field tests, it was decided to use the KTO Piranha I car, which was used to create the new vehicle. Many elements were taken from the Piranha I car, but the turret with the main armament of the FV101 Scorpion tank was used. Also, the chassis - instead of eight-wheeled - became six-wheeled. Finally, a vehicle with good maneuverability was created, with amphibious abilities and well armed. Now The AVGP Cougar is primarily used for training, with Coyote vehicles taking its first place.
