Description

The T-84 is a Ukrainian main battle tank, the so-called 3rd generation from modern times. The first prototypes of this vehicle were made in 1993-1994, and the car entered production in 1994. The combat weight of the tank is up to 46 tons. The drive is provided by a single diesel engine KMDB 6TD-2 1,200 hp. The primary armament is the 125mm KBA-3 smoothbore gun, and the secondary armament consists of: a 7.62mm KT machine gun and a 12.7mm KT machinegun. The T-84 tank was created as a far-reaching modernization of the T-80UD tank, and the Fabryka im. Malysheva in Kharkiv. The first, mass-produced version of the T-84 differs from its predecessor mainly in a completely different and more classic drive unit (a diesel engine instead of a gas turbine), as well as the use of a more effective fire control system (SKO for short) and a new, night gunner's sight. In 1999, the T-84M Opłot version was presented, in which the vehicle's armor was improved, and the SKO was further modified.
